...with little or no knowledge of German
The admission of foreign pupils with little or no knowledge of German to schools in Frankfurt am Main is organized centrally via the Admissions and Counselling Centre (ABZ) of the State Education Authority in Frankfurt am Main.
Pupils can be referred to a regular class at the Elisabethenschule by the ABZ if their German language skills are sufficient and places are available. Applications must be addressed to the ABZ.
Pupils can be assigned by the ABZ to the intensive class at the Elisabethenschule, where they will receive thorough instruction in German and will be integrated into an existing class. The Elisabethenschule is the only grammar school in Frankfurt am Main that has had an intensive class for over 20 years and has been very successful in helping students of many nationalities to pass their Abitur (German equivalent of the British A levels).
Flyers in German, English, Ukrainian and Russian are available for information on the procedure for admission to a school in Frankfurt am Main through the Admissions and Guidance Centre:
